We’re a community of local people uniting together to stand up for our local green spaces and wildlife and prevent destructive development. We are not politically affiliated.

 

Our mission is to protect green spaces from development and enhance our green areas for wildlife to thrive and people to connect with nature.

Saving our local green spaces is possible. We’ve already done it.

With the support of our community, we’ve been able to save Newark Library Gardens from development. This urban oasis is no longer set to be tarmacked for a car park and instead will remain the home of mature trees and local wildlife.

  • BALDERTON’S ‘WILD ISLES’ UNDER THREAT

    Protect Newark’s Green Spaces (PNGS) has warned that Balderton’s very own Wild Isles could soon be destroyed. Historic fields off Lowfield Lane are home to precious grasslands and wildlife. Yet, Newark and Sherwood District Council (NSDC) now plans to build 151 houses through its in-house developer, Arkwood.

    Around 300 residents rallied together, calling upon Newark MP, Robert Jenrick, to demand our Government withdraw the retained EU law bill - also known as the ‘wrecking bill’ - which could see the ripping up and removal of over 1,000 laws protecting nature and wildlife.

    This Sunday, hundreds of residents will call upon Newark MP, Robert Jenrick, to demand our Government withdraw the retained EU law bill - also known as the ‘wrecking bill’ - which currently protects places like Sherwood Forest and wildlife including otters, dolphins and peregrines.

  • LOCAL WILDLIFE LAKE AT THREAT INSPIRES CHILDREN’S STORIES

    Balderton Lake - a local wildlife jewel - which is threatened by watersports by YMCA Newark and Sherwood District, has inspired a book of stories and illustrations as well as artworks by award-winning wildlife artist and author.
